The Official Opening of the Him-Do Tae Kwon Do Academy Dojang in Salamander Bay was on the 24th July 2011. Head Instructor and Principle Ronald Bergan had a dream to create a State of the Art Dojang/training studio. After years of Planning, this dream took just 6 months to complete creating the first ever Port Stephens Martial Arts Studio.

Around 60 people including Students, Family and Friends along with Sponsors and the General Public came together to officially open the Studio. The special day was marked with Tae Kwon Do Demonstrations by students, an Aussie BBQ along with a Raffle.studio opening students picture

Tae Kwon Do literal means the following: Tae: to kick with the foot Kwon: destroy with the fist Do: the art or the way. And that is what Ronald Bergan is hoping to create, 'A way of life'; by teaching all ages the confidence and skills needed to defend yourself, gain fitness and skill along with learning official Patterns, Kicks, Sparring, Weapon and Self defence. Ronald Bergan along with his class of Students compete in championships across the country, and now with a State of Art Studio available for training he hopes to allow more advanced training and mentoring along the way.

Head Instructor and Principle Ronald Bergan hopes to grow and expand his academy and invites all that are interested in joining and training in Traditional Korean and Olympic Tournament Styles to contact him. He offers the first training session free, and allows students to train four nights a week for one monthly fee, as well as offering family discounts and creating an option for private lesson and mentoring.

Ronald Bergan would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who was involved in turning his dream into reality. From the friends and tradies who took part in building the studio, to the companies who supported him throughout the process, his dream would not have occurred without your assistance. A special thanks to the businesses (One Mile Beach Holiday Park, Moonshadow Cruises, Adventure 4wd tours, Oceanic Restaurant and Lil' Buddha Asian Cuisine) who donated generous gifts for the Official Opening Raffle. To the ones who attended the Official Opening Ronald Bergan cannot thank you enough for coming to share this milestone with him.
